Antique Victorian Majolica Sunflower Cake Stand

Item Details

An English Victorian majolica sunflower cake stand. This piece features a round surface top decorated with a yellow sunflower to the center accented with embossed scroll motifs in hues of cream and light blue and trimmed in a soft yellow braided design. It has a pedestal base that is decorated in the same design as the surface top. The exterior side of the surface top is adorned in an abstract design in hues of brown and blue against a yellow glazed finish. There are mottled glazes on the base as are typical for many English majolica pieces of the period. There are no discernible maker’s marks.
