Friedrich Feuerstein and Other German 800 Silver Tablespoons
Item Details
A collection of three German 800 silver tablespoons. This includes a pair of tablespoons by Hanau maker Friedrich Feuerstein (active early 20th century), which features fiddle handles with rounded shoulders and decorations of a crown over two crosses in a shield, which is a part of the Danzig coat of arms. They are stamped to the back with the post-1886 German reichsmark of a crescent moon and crown, ‘800’, the maker’s mark of an ‘F’ in a circle, and a retailer’s mark of Stumpf & Sohn. They are presented with a tablespoon that has a threaded handle with a relief design and ‘Danzig 1900’ at the bottom. It is stamped to the back with the reichsmark of a crescent moon and crown, ‘800’, and a maker’s mark that is similar to Heilbronn maker Bruckmann & Söhne (active 1805-1973), but no clear attribution can be made. The total approximate weight is 6.395 ozt.
Condition
- minor surface wear including marks, scratches, and minimal tarnishing; the two matching spoons have sticker residue on the stems.
