Mid 15th-Century Hand-Painted Vellum Pages from a Normand Book of Hours

Item Details

A collection of four hand-painted vellum leaves from a Book of Hours written in Coutances, Normandy circa 1450. The pages feature several drop caps, line fillers, and floral border details in black, gold, red, white, blue, and brown ink. Descriptive papers inside the matting attribute previous ownership of the book to Seigneur Richard du Mesnildot, Provost Royal of Coutances, 1489. The pages are held in off-white matting windows with descriptive inserts detailing the inscriptions wrapped in protective plastic.
