Late 16th-Century Miniature Hand-Painted Vellum Leaves from French Book of Hours

Item Details

A pair of two vellum leaves from a French Book of Hours, circa 1570 in Paris, France. The Latin text is written in a rounded Roman hand with a variety of brown, red, white, blue, and gold inks. Possibly, the hand-written typeface is an imitation of a printed text. The pages feature multiple drop caps and unique line fillers. The pages are held in off-white matting windows with descriptive inserts detailing the inscriptions, wrapped in protective plastic.
