1878 Ridgways "Yeddo" Earthenware Pitcher

Item Details

An antique earthenware pitcher by Ridgways in the Yeddo pattern. This vessel is crafted with decorative details characteristic of the aesthetic movement. It features a squared spout and handle with a bulbous body that tapers towards the round base. This piece is accented with iron red and luster salmon details in addition to the brown transferware motif. It boasts two geometric bands and a chinoiserie motif above the shoulder. The body features a figural vignette depicting a man catching his third fish in view of an excited child. The rim and handle are finished with red trim. The piece is marked with the pattern name, bow and quiver logo, and a registry mark indicating production in April 1878.

- minor to small marks to painted red trim; wear to base; crazing throughout.
