Jacquard-Woven Tapestry "Scènes Galantes"
Item Details
A Jacquard-woven tapestry titled Scènes Galantes from the French manufactory Jules Pansu. This tapestry is based on a fifteenth-century curtain and depicts a scene of medieval noble life in the time of Louis XII in the millefleur style of tapestry that depicts the lords and ladies with their attendants in a field of flowers and fruit trees. The piece is finished with an attached, woven floral border and cotton fabric lining. It has a pocket along the top edge for a hanging rod and a French certificate of authenticity describing the piece and signed by the employees involved in the weaving process.
