Porcelain Plates Featuring Antique Elite Works for Limoges and Haviland & Co.

A grouping of twenty-two porcelain plates. Included are three hand-painted plates that display a varying bird in a natural setting. These plates are marked ‘Bawo & Dotter Elite Works Limoges France’ and were produced between 1896 and 1920. The company was an American import firm that opened in 1860 to decorate porcelain blanks made at the Limoges factories in the late nineteenth-century. Each of the hand-painted bird plates are signed or initialed to the front by the artist. Also included is a Haviland Limoges porcelain nineteen-piece dish set with a gilt and turquoise scrolled border. These plates are marked ‘Haviland France Decorated by Haviland & Co. Limoges’.
