A hand-painted Russian Orthodox icon on wooden panel of Saint Demetrius the Warrior. This piece depicts the saint on the back of a white horse, his arm drawn back to aim a spear at an enemy, while Christ watches from a cloud toward the upper left. This painting, which features a gold tone leaf background, includes a line of Cyrillic text toward its upper edge and is presented with a wire for hanging to its verso along with a note of provenance.
