Antique American Victorian Eastlake Walnut Armoire
Item Details
An antique American Victorian Eastlake armoire in walnut. This large two door armoire has a flaring cornice composed of multiple shaped moldings above the arched inset burl walnut veneer paneled doors flanked by chamfered front corners and paneled sides. Below the doors are two drawers with dovetail joints and embossed brass plates and pulls all that rest on a raised plinth on low block feet. The entire cabinet having incised line carving typical of the Eastlake style of the late 19th century. The interior of the armoire is divided into separate storage areas, with the left side originally offering three shelves for folded clothes and the right side offering a pole for hanging clothes, with a single shelf across the top. While the left side currently has only one shelf, the cleats that once held the other two shelves are still in place. There are no discernible maker’s marks.
