Beaded Embroidery Embellishment on Prints of Women
Item Details
A selection of eight beaded embroideries that embellish images printed on fabric. Some of the pieces have hallmarks of the Persian zardozi goldwork embroidery, with designs outlined and areas filled with careful stitching in a gold tone metallic thread. The pieces include images of Indian, Persian, and Southeast Asian women, including Steve Curry’s iconic 1985 image of the ‘Afghan Girl’, that have been printed on fabric and then embellished with beads, sequins, and hand-stitching. They are unsigned and presented in layered mats covered with silk brocade fabrics.
Condition
- fading to printed images; line across one image; wear and some fraying to edges and corners of mats.
