Butterfly Wings

A selection of mixed media butterfly wings collages.These five collages are composed of cut butterfly wings, two of which are identified as using Morphos Butterflies, which are affixed together and painted over top with ink. They depict Victorian era and circa 1920 genre scenes, including a mother and child visiting a shrine dedicated to Mary and Jesus, as well as a family joyfully walking through snow. To the lower margins of two works are titles, including Good Morning and A Wayside Shrine, Venice. The works are presented under glass in either gold tone or black wooden frames with hanging hardware to the verso. The two square compositions include typed information from Natural Butterfly Wing Pictures to the verso.

- scratching to the glass of the largest frame; scratching to all five frames; wear to all five versos; dust accretion present.
