Vintage Lock, Pocket "Damp Detector," and Perpetual Calendar
Item Details
A vintage lock, pocket ‘Damp Detector,’ and perpetual calendar. Included is a vintage 330 solid brass ‘Old English’ padlock from Hy Squire & Son with a key, and a brass perpetual calendar featuring a dial on the top engraved with the months and a round base engraved with numbers 1 to 31. A pocket ‘Damp Detector’ designed to assess the dampness of sheets and other items, for the prevention of illness, completes this group. The ‘Damp Detector’ is held in a pocket watch style case finished with red eel skin like textured leather. Neither the calendar nor the detector have visible maker’s marks.
Condition
- hinged lid of detector case separated from instrument. Untested.
