Signed Letter From Wendell Willkie, 1940 Republican Presidential Nominee

Item Details

A signed letter of appreciation from Wendell Willkie, the 1940 Republican nominee for President of the United States. Willkie (1892-1942), unlike his other primary contenders, was an interventionist who supported the American war effort in World War II and who eventually lost the presidential election to incumbent Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt. The letter is produced on Willkie’s letterhead and demonstrates appreciation for one of his supporters during the Republican convention of 1940. It is dated July 15, 1940, and Willkie signed it in blue ink.
