A Klein-Adler portable manual typewriter, produced by the Adler typewriter company circa the 1910s. This early European portable has a three-row German QWERTZU keyboard layout and a thrust action mechanism in which the type bars strike the platen horizontally, allowing for a relatively flat design. The black metal typewriter includes a black carrying case, and the cover plate is marked in gold tone with an eagle logo and the text ‘Klein-Adler / Adlerwerke vorm. Meinrich Kleyer A. G. / Frankfurt a. M.’
