A hand-knotted Tibetan pictorial wool area rug. This contemporary rug is attributed to Tibetan weavers from either Nepal or India, and rendered in a palette of cranberry, azure, indigo, ivory, cornsilk, and sage. This unique rug features an array of motifs including figures of both human and animal, along with a number of dwellings, and plants. The cranberry colored field is split by a river filled with boats and people, and framed in a solid border of cornsilk. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and a natural warp fringe to the ends. Labeled to the underside.
