A hand-knotted Persian Tabriz wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, deep indigo, azure, rose, emerald, camel, rust, and wine. The cranberry colored field features a large central floral pendant medallion, with scrolling floral bouquets and motifs, along with ornate spandrels each with a pair of flower filled vases and other elaborate floral motifs. Framing the field is a broken border of large vase like motifs and scrolling flowers, along with leaf meander, and running water guard borders. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and a natural warp fringe to the ends. Labeled to the underside.
