A hand-knotted Persian Kashan area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of taupe, red, midnight blue, forest green, salmon, and ivory. It features a scalloped diamond shaped medallion on a field patterned with curvilinear vines, lancet leaves, and Shah Abbasi palmettes. The main border features a herati pattern and it is framed on either side with guard borders of palmettes and leaves.It has fringe to either end with overcast selvedges and it is marked to the verso ‘Made in Iran’.
