A hand-knotted Persian Kashan area rug . This wool carpet is hand-knotted in a palette of cool grays, midnight blue, olive , burgundy, ivory and sky blue. This rug features a scalloped diamond shaped medallion on a white field densely patterned with lancet leaves, Shah Abbasi palmettes, and curvilinear vines. It has a herati pattern main border with carnation meander and sawtooth guard borders. It has fringe to either end and it is marked to the reverse ‘Made in Iran’.
