Collection of Steins and Stein-Shaped Music Boxes
Item Details
A collection of three steins and two stein-shaped music boxes. Both music boxes are designed after German steins decorated with drinking hall scenes and with silver-toned lids; the taller one plays ‘Hail Hail the Gang’s All Here’ while the shorter plays Marlene Dietrich’s tune ‘Lili Marleen’ and has a Thorens label to the underside. The large stein has a similar design to the music boxes, with the slogan ‘Ruh hast du nur in der schenke’ (You only find peace in the tavern) along the bottom; the underside is marked ‘West Germany’. The lot is completed with two small steins with festhaus scenes, one cream and blue and the other gray and blue marked with ‘1031 Germany’.
Condition
- smaller music box is not functioning; large stein’s lid does not fit properly; lids missing from two small steins; chip to mouth of gray stein.
