Abalone Inlay Boxes

Item Details

Two inlaid abalone and lacquer boxes. The octagonal box features images of flowers and scrollwork, the imagery consisting of inlaid abalone over red lacquer. The interior of the box contains eight removable divided sections in red. The piece is marked ‘Made in Korea’ to the underside. A smaller, square box, similar in tone, features a bamboo motif in inlaid abalone to the lid. It is unmarked.
