Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Kerman wool prayer rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, rose, sky blue, indigo, camel, and sand. The field features a single curvelinear mihrab infilled with a large vase form featuring a large floral arrangement of branched flowers, and flanked with birds. The sky blue portion of the field also features birds and flowers, and framed in a herati patterned main border with floral meander guard borders. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and a natural warp fringe to the ends, along with a rose colored weft to the underside. Unlabeled.
