An East Asian gouache painting of a bird on silk with a painting of a harbor by an artist signing the work ‘R.W.’ The gouache painting depicts a long-tailed red bird clinging to a flowering tree branch, its head turned to look toward the painting’s right edge, while the accompanying piece uses a bright palette to depict a harbor scattered with small boats and surrounded by buildings. Both are presented in simple frames, the gouache painting marked with a red signature seal to its lower right and the name ‘Xiang Jiang’ to its verso. The painting of a harbor has a sawtooth hanger to its verso.
