A hand-knotted Caucasian tribal long rug. This wool rug, attributed to weavers from Kuba, is rendered in a palette of cranberry, indigo, crimson, azure, tangerine, and ivory. The paneled rug features a complex lattice pattern incorporating octagons, hexagons, and rectangles, along with kochak crosses, kaikalak motifs, diamonds, box motifs and striped borders. Framing the field is a running dog border and a geometric patterned outer guard border with triangle and diamond panels. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges in red and brown, the rug finishing at each end with short wool and goat hair warp fringe. Unlabeled.
