Hand-Knotted Northwest Persian Area Rug

A hand-knotted Northwest Persian wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of pinks, violet, peacock blue, ivory, cornsilk, and a brown/black hue. The deep rose colored field features a large crenelated diamond pendant medallion with a central animal form, along with coordinating spandrels. The field and spandrels also feature floral, animal, muska, and geometrical motifs. Framing the field is a main crab border with a chained boteh and florette meander guard border. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and an extremely short natural warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
