Antique American Empire Mahogany Breakfast Table

An antique American Empire breakfast table in mahogany, circa 1820-1835. The heavily carved high style drop leaf breakfast table has a top veneered in highly figured crotch mahogany that rests on an apron with a applied molding and a single drawer with a similarly veneered face fitted with an ornately embossed gilt brass plate with ring pull. Attached on the underside of the apron is a skillfully turned and acanthus carved column into which the four acanthus carved lion paw feet on brass castors have been dovetailed. Unmarked.

Condition
- cupping in the three boards that comprise the center top, nicks in the veneer around the drawer, scratches, old split in turned column, rubbed finish on the feet.
