Kent Hagerman Etchings "Louisville Lock and Dam 41" and "Kentucky River"

A pair of etchings of river scenes American artist Kent Hagerman (1893-1978) was made for the Liberty National Bank and Trust of Louisville, tiled Louisville Lock and Dam 41 and Kentucky River. Kentucky River, also appearing to be titled The Valley View Ferry and the Ferry Boat ‘Julia’, depicts a young man coiling a rope which had been used to dock the ferry seen transporting a convertible across the wide river, a tree-covered hill visible to the opposite bank. Louisville Lock and Dam 41 depicts a smoking riverboat at a lock in the river, a bridge visible in the atmospheric distance. Both prints are titled and signed in pencil to their lower edges and include titled essays by bank president Merle E. Robertson to their versos. They are matted under glass in wooden frames with wires to their versos.

Condition

- fair; “Kentucky River” hanging wire has detached from one side; discoloration to mats; frames have surface wear, scratches and dents.
