Antique Cross-Stitch Sampler on Linen Circa 1819
Item Details
An antique cross-stitch sampler on linen by Catherine R. Rodd at the age of 9 created in 1819. The sampler depicts both upper and lower case alphabet with the numerals 1 through 12 below. To the center the artist stitched her name, age, and date. The sampler is finished with a a series of everyday quotes. The item is presented under glass in a gold toned wooden frame.
Condition
- some wear around the edges of the frame; glass could benefit from a cleaning; to the verso, small puncture mark to the protective backing.
