An engraving on paper, titled Burial of the Pet Bird from a drawing by S.J. Ferris, believed to be Stephen James Ferris(1835-1915), after an original artwork by Lejeune, likely Louis-François Lejeune (1775-1848). This print depicts a line of mourning children making a procession with the body of a pet bird in tow. This print includes the names of the artists to the lower left, with the name of the engraver obscured to the lower right. It is matted under glass in a beveled wooden frame with a wire to its verso for hanging.
Condition
- foxing and toning throughout; discoloration along bottom; wear to frame finish; piece would merit from being cleaned.
