A decorative piece based on the sixteenth-century Mexica sculpture known as the Sun Stone or ‘Aztec calendar stone’. This ceramic replica in mottled white, gray and verdigris tones is a disk made up of concentric circles of glyphs with the sun god Tonatiuh at the center. The piece has a green felt backing and a metal hanging loop to the reverse, and has no apparent maker’s marks.
