Antique American Rococo Revival Mahogany Armchair

An antique American mahogany Rococo Revival armchair. This circa 1855-1875 floral carved parlor armchair has a cartouche shaped moulded back carved and pierced to the crest with a broken arch pediment with roses, chrysanthemums and leaves. The arms upholstered and moulded at the hand rest extend downward to form the carved cabriole legs that end on castors and flank a moulded skirt carved to the center with a rose and a chrysanthemum. The splayed rear legs also on castors. The back, seat, and armrest are all upholstered in a textured yellow fabric with double welted trim and button tufted details to the back and seat. Unmarked.
