Archaistic Chinese Tripod Censer
Item Details
An archaistic Chinese tripod censer. This composite vessel boasts a substantial carved finial and pierced, domed lid. The bulbous body is accented with a pair of dragon handles on either side and geometric bands in relief. A central character is framed by a swirled motif and finished with gilt trim. This piece rests on three feet decorated with guardian lion masks. The piece bears an intentionally distressed finish throughout and an impressed seal to the base.
Condition
- minor marks and faint scuffs throughout; needs light cleaning, verdigris to finial.
