A lithograph on paper titled Falco nigriceps (male) by ornithologist John Cassin (American, 1813 – 1869) and printed by P.S. Duval and Co. of Philadelphia. The work depicts the western duck-hawk and is from the folio The U.S. Naval Astronomical Expedition to the Southern Hemisphere, Vol. II. Marked in plate with the title, plate, lithographer, and artist’s name. Housed in a wood frame under acrylic glass and a double layer of matting. To the verso is a photocopy of the front page of the folio.
Condition
- minor wear to the outside of the frame; mat burn along the visible edges of the print.
