A finely hand-knotted Persian Kerman wool area rug by Khazai. This beautiful rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, sky blue, ivory, indigo, rose, olive, hunter, camel, and ochre. The crimson colored field begins with a large round medallion bordered in palmette motifs with vase pendants, along with palmette bordered spandrels, and an abundance of floral motifs filling the rest of the field. Framing the field is a cartouche, medallion, and floral patterned notched main border, along with stylized herati patterned guard borders and a crenelated outside border. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and a natural warp fringe the ends, along with blue weft threads. Labeled ‘Khazai Carpet, City: Kerman, Handmade in Iran’.
