1863 Josiah & James Williams Sterling Silver Teaspoon

A sterling silver teaspoon from 1863 by Exeter makers Josiah & James Williams. This piece features a pointed oval bowl on a tipped fiddle handle with pointed shoulders and engraving of a hand holding a sword and a six-pointed star. It is stamped to the back of the handle with the ‘JW & JW’ maker’s mark alongside four hallmarks of a ‘G’ date mark for 1863, a castle for Exeter, a lion passant for sterling, and a Queen Victoria duty mark. The approximate weight is 0.720 ozt.
