A hand-colored etching by American artist Philip Evergood (1901 – 1973) titled Beginning of the Dance. The Surrealist work depicts a group of nude figures gathering to start a dance. The central figure turns his head to gaze at the viewer. It is signed in pencil lower right, and titled in pencil lower left. A gallery label from Garelick’s Gallery in Detroit is present verso. Presented in a gold tone frame with a mat, there is a wire for hanging verso.

- Right margin of mat is stained from water damage
