An Anglo-Persian style Bird of Paradise machine woven wool area rug by MJ Whittall of Worcester, Massachusetts. This Art Deco style wool rug is constructed in multiple panels, being seamed together on the back. The rug features a stylized garden motif with blooming peony trees and lotus flowers in muted tones of lavender, green, charcoal and camel brown on an abrashed pale salmon colored ground. The center field is interspersed with birds of paradise with a wide floral main border. The rug is finished with applied cream cotton knotted fringe to opposite ends, being marked ‘Whittalls Anglo Persian 195264 9 46’ to the verso.
