René Margotton Original Oil on Canvas

An original oil on canvas by French artist René Margotton (1915 – 2009). René Margotton was a French painter of the School of Paris, one of the last cubists of the 20th century. The Bishops’ Palace of Bourg-Saint-Andéol, a mediaeval fort, contains the René Margotton museum, which displays more than fifty of his works. This oil on canvas consists of a variety of roughly executed shapes dominated by yellows, pinks and blacks on a gray background. It is signed and dated by the artist in the lower left and presented in a wood and linen frame with gold trim. The back of the canvas is marked ‘633 Fruit vert’.
Condition
Minor markings throughout. Stains on linen mat.
