Vintage Chinese Style Hand-Painted Folding Fan
Item Details
A vintage Chinese style hand-painted folding fan. The oversized frame is composed of stained, hardwood blades, the top portions of which are covered with paper. Painted in ink and color against a gilt ground, the front side depicts a peacock and floral blossoms while the back is undecorated and applied with a pair of red hanging ribbons. The front is marked to the upper right with four Chinese characters and a single, red seal.
Condition
- to fair; some minor surface wear; outer-most blades with some small residue marks; left-most blade with a later hanger taped to back; top edge of fan with a few tiny separations at creases; fan does not close completely.
