Hand-Knotted Indo-Heriz Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Heriz carpet runner. This wool rug, attributed to Indian weavers, is rendered in a palette of crimson, ivory, black, camel, and gray. It begins with three vertically arranged Karaja-style star medallions over a crimson field. The field is filled with stylized depictions of vines, foliage, flowers, and palmettes. Framing the field are compound borders, including a turtle-pattern primary border grounded in black. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe.
