A hand thrown and altered stoneware sculpture titled Wish Keeper by Hawaiian artist Matthew Lovein (b.1949). The piece features an ovoid vessel with a bamboo shaped lid, raku fired in a turquoise crackle glaze. Attached to the lid is a silk cord and small ceramic container, designed by the artist to hold ‘wishes’ written on paper. The vessel has a green blue glaze and a stamped symbol representing ‘good fortune’ to the body, and it rests on a round extruded and handbuilt base with bamboo shaped legs. It is signed to the underside.
