A hand-knotted Persian Heriz wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, black, ivory, indigo, ochre, and sky blue. Beginning the abrashed lozenged field is a large star medallion, and filled with lancette leaf, ashik, floral, bird, and geometric motifs, along with hooked sawtooth bordered spandrels. Framing the field is a main samovar border and chained florette guard borders. Finishing the rug are double overcast selvedges and a short natural warp ivory fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
