Finely Hand-Knotted Nanyang Chinese Silk Area Rug

A finely hand-knotted Nanyang Chinese area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of peach, ivory, powder blue, cranberry, rose, olive, and camel. The peach colored field features a large central floral pendant medallion the ornate medallion coordinates with the intricately floral filled spandrels. Framing the field is an ornate stylized herati pattern with floral meander guard borders, and sawtooth patterned minor borders. Finishing the rug are triple overcast selvedges and a fine knotted natural warp fringe to the rosette embellished and skirted ends with a cartouche containing an inscription. A label on the reverse reads, in part, ‘Nanyang City, Henan.’
