A woodblock print by Japanese artist Hiroshi Yoshida (1876 – 1950), titled Carp and Tortoises. This print on paper depicts a group of people adorned in a traditional hanfu gathered before a sectioned body of water, with draped willow trees surrounding them, framing a pagoda structure to the deep distance. To the lower left corner of the composition is an in-plate calligraphic inscription and artist seal. Found to the lower margins is a handwritten signature and title. This print is presented under glass beneath matting in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- image paper is discolored; stains and dirt throughout the image area; kinks and tears around the outside edges of the image paper; gold tone wood frame showing nicks and scratches around the frame.
