An antique Hindu sculpture of Lakshmi on her Owl. This two-part sculpture, likely produced in the Bengal region, depicts a stylized owl moulded with ornate patterning that defines its facial features, with a diamond patterned body. The bird is affixed to a conical, rounded base and is affixed with a protruding horn on its back. This comfortably holds the goddess figure surrounded by a patterned, perforated arch.
Condition
- multiple corroded spots, tarnish and significant general wear; perforations throughout.
