1917 George W. Goethals Signed Letter On Behalf of the Panama Rail Road Company

A George W. Goethals signed letter on behalf of the Panama Rail Road Company. The piece includes a letter from Goethals (1858-1928) regarding the ongoing construction of the Panama Canal. Goethals, a former US Army General, was at the time the leading civil engineer and administrator of the United States construction of the Panama Canal. The piece is signed in ink to the middle right of the second page and the collection includes the postmarked envelope and a halftone photograph of Goethals signed in ink. It is presented matted, without glass, in a wooden frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

- fold lines; staining to envelope; worn edges and corners; glass has been removed.
