An original acrylic painting on board by Virginia noted artist Barclay Sheaks (1928-2010). This small, complex work depicts a small red and white tugboat out of the water and resting on a picturesque shoreline. The paining is signed to the lower right and presented in a narrow frame with linen matting and a silver leafed edge. Barclay Sheaks was a southern artist and writer and a longtime art professor at Virginia Wesleyan College. His works often depict sea and shore imagery and can be found in numerous private and public collections around the country.
