Large Hand-Knotted Persian Sarouk Ivory Area Rug
Item Details
A Persian Sarouk area rug. This vintage wool rug is finely hand-knotted in a palette of ivory, rose, dusty pink, cherry, midnight blue, and cerulean. It features an ivory field filled with crisply rendered, discrete sprays of flowers and mixed-floral bouquets. The field is framed by five floral borders, including a herati primary border grounded in cherry and filled with meandering palmettes, flowers, lancet leaves, and vines. Flanking the primary border on each side are a herati minor border over cerulean and meandering floral minor borders over dusty pink. The outer guard border is ivory. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with long ivory wool warp fringe. Blue weft threads are visible on the underside. The rug is unlabeled.
