Pair of Antique Asian Boxes
Item Details
A pair of Asian antique boxes. The pair includes one wooden box, with a dark red-brown finish, a brass clasp and escutcheon, with metal handles. The side of the hinged lid has a round escutcheon and loop which appears to have once had a chain attached. The interior has remnants of a leather lining, with mostly exposed wood. No maker’s marks. The other box is made of thick leather, with an orange lacquered finish. It features applied Asian motifs to the top and sides, including stylized moths, bats and floral designs. It also has a dark metal clasp on the front The interior is lined in a light tan leather. No maker’s marks.
