19th Century Simpson Hall Miller & Co. Silver Plate Insulated Ice Water Pitcher
Item Details
A large mid to late 19th century insulated silver plate ice water pitcher. This piece features a finial to the domed hinged lid, woman’s figural head to the handle, a large chased cartouche design to the side with oval for monogramming if desired, and a chased cartouche to the verso with harbor scene to the center. It is made by Simpson Hall & Co. of Wallingford, Connecticut. The pitcher has an insulated design patented in 1854 by Jas. Stimpson with a screw plug opening to the bottom which allows one to fill the insulated area with water.
