Chinese Floral Tanggu Drum

Item Details

A Chinese tanggu (堂鼓) drum, or ‘ceremonial hall drum.’ This double-headed drum has gold-painted skin heads with nailhead trim and a lacquered shell with a blue-on-white floral motif. It has four gold-toned rings, used for suspending the drum in a wooden stand for playing. Two unfinished wood drumsticks are included. The drum is unmarked.
